This delicious pear was developed by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. It combines high quality with resistance to fire blight which can be a severe problem in some areas. Moonglow fills a longstanding need for a high quality pear that is blight resistant. Trees grow upright, heavily spurred and can bear at an early age. Standard type often bears 2nd year after planting. Fruits ripen about 2 weeks before Bartlett, are mild, delightfully sweet with a spritely taste. Excellent for commercial production or home gardens. Plant a different variety with it to assure pollination. Zones 5-8 POLLINATION FOR PEARS: Pears require two varieties for cross pollination. Seckel pears require two different varieties for cross polination. Note: Bartlett and Seckel will not cross pollinate.
