Kristin the world’s hardiest sweet cherry! Proven winter-hardy from Norway to windswept Montana! We have long sought a truly winter-hardy, black sweet cherry, and here it is! This NY 1599 sweet cherry was tested for 12 years in frigid Norway, where trees were healthy, cropped well, and no winter injury occurred. NY planting yielded heavy crops even after the record breaking winters of 1979-80. Plantings near Flathead Lake in the dry cold of Montana proved Kristin hardier than Bing or Chinook. Kristin cherries are large, about an inch in diameter with firm, meaty, juicy flesh. Tender skins are glossy, dark-black or purplish black. A beautiful fruit! Ripens mid-July in Fingerlakes Country. Recommended highly by Geneva Exp. Station for roadside stands or pick-ur-own growing. Truly a “must” for sweet cherry lovers. Zones 4-8 Sorry, this item cannot be shipped to AZ & CA.
