Harvesting Guava Trees

Guava trees will produce fruit in 3 to 5 years, sometimes two harvests per year. Fruit is ripe as color intensifies, firmness lessens and has some give when squeezed, and begins to have more aroma when smelled.

To determine the right time to pick guava fruit, watch for key signs of maturity. Guava fruit will begin to change in color intensity. Gently press the fruit before harvesting – it should yield slightly to pressure. Guava fruit’s fragrance will increase greatly when it’s time to harvest. After picking, let fruit ripen at room temperature.
